Opus 13 Score and parts
- Allegro moderato
- Adagio
- Tempo di menuetto
The Grand Duo for violin and viola was composed in 1815 and is a technically demanding work but also very rewarding. All three movements are long and complex and pose certain challenges for flautists which are otherwise unknown in flute compositions of this period. The Alto Flute comes into its own here, with highly expressive cantilena-like melodies which alternate with technically brilliant passages. Grading : 6-8
