As a flute student in Berlin in the 1970s one of the most frequent pieces of advice our teacher James Galway gave us was “listen to the great singers”. Now that we have Spotify, YouTube etc it is easy to access some sublime performances of the above named arias. Playing arias on the flute is one of the most direct and inspiring ways to improve our tone, breathing and phrasing. Grading : 5
